Islamic Ladieswear For The Home Seamstress

Assalamu Alaikum

This site is designed to provide the Home Seamstress with information regarding readily available* commercial patterns to enable you to sew modest ladieswear from home with a particular focus of acting as a resource for Muslims who are ethnically of Anglo/Saxon /European/Oceanic/Celtic descent and wish to wear appropriate Muslim clothing while not necessarily adopting cultural or ethnic dress native to other communities or countries as well as for Muslims who live in Western countries. The site also includes details of a number of older, out of print, patterns which may be available 2nd hand, from the likes of TradeMe®, North Breeze, Ebay® or Etsy® , or if not may at least provide ideas and inspiration for the home seamstress.

Further information on many of the patterns featured on this site may be found on Pattern Review. It's resource that as a seamstress I've found invaluable.

The site is presented with two options for your convenience - Design outlines and graphics of the patterns modelled which includes both sketches and photographs of people & Design outlines (back view and front view) of the garments only without any images of people. Please choose the version you prefer to view from the menu on the left.

Please Note: The design outlines show all the pattern options within the pattern envelope as commercial patterns may only be purchased in the form that they are made commercially available. The long sleeved, long skirts, and trousers (worn beneath long tops or long skirts) are the only design views being suggested as appropriate for wearing as outerwear in public, obviously other views can be worn around home within the family or used as layering options.

Recommended Reading for Further Information: Muslim Clothing Requirements According to the Qur'an and Sunnah from a paper complied by Jamal A. Badawi.

* Readily available at time of publication either from the appropriate retailer or from the likes of TradeMe®, North Breeze, Ebay® or Etsy® for those patterns no longer in print.
